The Dawoodi Bohras of Vancouver host the Consul General of India to discuss shared culture, values, and local priorities

The Dawoodi Bohras of Vancouver organized a virtual meeting with the Honorable Consul General of India Shri Manish ji, and Honorable Consul Shri H. Venkatachalam ji, on Thursday February 4th, 2021, at 3:00pm.

Following welcome and introductions, Janab Aamil Saheb Sheikh Huzeifa bhai Aftab (Hamid) spoke about Bohra culture and values, and the spread of Dawoodi Bohras from the Indian Sub-Continent to countries across the globe. This was followed by a short video presentation which highlighted a brief history of Bohras, as well as philanthropic initiatives undertaken through Project Rise.

Shri Manish ji recalled his interaction with Dawoodi Bohras during his tenure in Sri Lanka, and described Bohras as ‘Progressive’, ‘Highly Educated’, ‘Global Citizen(s)’, and stated that he was proud to have interacted with our community. Shri Manish ji described some of the activities and events being organized by the Consulate General of India, including the upcoming 75 weeks of celebration around the 75th Independence Day of India. He expressed the hope that the newly formed relationship between the Vancouver Dawoodi Bohras and The Consulate General of India continues to strengthen and flourish through ongoing interactions between us through various events in the future. He thanked the Dawoodi Bohra community for inviting him and his colleague to this engagement.

Janab Aamil Saheb echoed the sentiments and thanked the dignitaries from the Consulate General of India, assuring continued collaboration and interaction.
