Bohras Support Calgary Habitat Restoration

Volunteer Dawoodi Bohras partnered with Calgary’s Parks Department recently to help restore crucial marshland habitat and contribute to increasing the native flora, fauna and biodiversity as part of the City’s wide-ranging green initiative.

Like their fellow members of the faith all over the world, the Dawoodi Bohras of Calgary regularly volunteer on environmental projects under Project Rise, a global Bohra program that includes a wide spectrum of initiatives and activities in healthcare, nutrition, water and sanitation, environmental responsibility and conservation, and education.

Previous Project Rise activities undertaken by the Calgary Bohras include planting trees to help increase the urban tree canopy, finding creative ways to upcycle single use plastic while raising awareness of the need to recycle, and joining the city’s annual walk to raise funds to reduce poverty in the region.
